I’m working on new pages for American Werewolf! Check back this week for more on Andre Santana, the only webcomic featuring a Hispanic male werewolf!
And if you want to see more multicultural comics, check out Dragonwyck at http://confessionsofashapeshifter.com
and Razher, the African American Maori teen she-wolf at http://razher.com
No, she’s not an angel. She’s a dragoness with a unique history. She just popped into my head the other day and I had to create the character. Old West, former slave, all kinds of taglines came to mind and the character was so strong I had to add her. I don’t think I’ll do a webcomic, but maybe put her in the other sites as a page turning graphic novel. I’ve already got her sidekicks (Clay, from American Werewolf was a former rebel soldier, and he’s a very old werewolf so I think he’ll be a good addition). Plus I’d always tried to figure out where I could add Havoc’s older brother Kaos. Vampires will probably be the enemy here. And I wanted to practice doing a historical.
This site (as well as my other two) need new, cool banners. I found a great website with lettering and I was able to narrow it down to these five styles:
A new character is introduced (well, at least she’s in a new form)
And another is nursing a sore jaw.
This isn’t the final version, but it’s pretty close to how I want to continue the story from the other comic, (http://confessionsofashapeshifter.com).
So what’s the mystery behind the rebel flag wearing son of the south and a very naked Andre lost in the desert? How he got that way and who he’s paired with as a wolf brother, in order to solve a series of gruesome murders will start the comic off!
You can also see Andre in these comics:
Welcome to the future comix site of American Werewolf
Andre Santana. Protector or Predator?
You be the judge
The hardest thing about this comix is how to depict Andre’s transformation. There’s so many great werewolf stories out there, and even a few featuring minority protags (the awesome High Moon over at Zuda comics plug!)
But I don’t know of any with young black hispanic males in the lead role, so that’s how Andre Santana came about. Getting his “turning” shots right has been work. But I think I’ve got a great idea on how to set him apart from all the others. Anyway, here’s a few sketches on his turning:
Still deciding whether he should have more of a pitbull look to him or not LOL:
